The CPS BLACKMAX VPBM4V is a compact and powerful 2-stage vacuum pump designed for professional refrigeration, air-conditioning and heat pump applications. With a flow rate of 4 CFM or approx. 113 l/min and a final vacuum of up to 15 microns, it is particularly suitable for evacuating small and medium-sized refrigeration circuits.
The brushless, variable-speed DC motor and the explosion-proof design allow it to be used on systems that previously utilised refrigerants of safety classes A1, A2L, A2 or A3. Compact vacuum pump for servicing and installation
With a flow rate of 4 CFM or around 113 l/min, the VPBM4V is positioned as a compact entry-level model in the BLACKMAX VPBM series. It offers sufficient performance for numerous typical installation and servicing tasks on air conditioning systems, heat pumps and smaller refrigeration systems, without the weight associated with larger vacuum pumps.
This makes it particularly suitable for service technicians and fitters looking for a portable, versatile vacuum pump for everyday use.
Designed for A2L and A3 applications
With the increasing use of A2L and A3 refrigerants, the demands placed on the service tools used are also rising. The BLACKMAX VPBM series was developed by CPS specifically for professional HVACR applications and features a brushless motor and intrinsically safe start-up components.
The VPBM4V can be used to evacuate systems that previously used refrigerants of classes A1, A2L, A2 or A3. This means a single vacuum pump can be used for a wide range of both traditional and modern refrigerant systems.
Three connections directly on the pump
For different evacuation set-ups, 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2" SAE connections are available directly on the VPBM4V. This allows both traditional service hoses and larger vacuum hoses to be connected directly without the need for unnecessary adapters.
To ensure the fastest possible evacuation, it is generally recommended to use short, vacuum-compatible hoses with the largest possible internal diameter.
Automatic solenoid valve to prevent oil backflow
The integrated solenoid valve is closed when de-energised. When the pump is switched off or the power supply is interrupted, the valve closes automatically. This prevents vacuum pump oil from flowing back into the connected refrigeration circuit and helps to maintain the vacuum more effectively.
Gas ballast valve for a deeper vacuum
The integrated gas ballast valve helps to remove moisture and condensable vapours from the second pump stage. This reduces the impact of moisture on the vacuum pump oil and helps to achieve a deep ultimate vacuum.
Direct monitoring of oil level and vacuum
The large vertical oil sight glass allows for quick checking of the oil level and oil condition. In addition, the VPBM4V features an integrated analogue vacuum gauge, which provides a quick overview of the current vacuum level.

Important application note
The CPS VPBM4V is not a refrigerant extraction unit. Before evacuation, any remaining refrigerant must be properly removed from the system using a suitable recovery unit. Suitability for A1, A2L, A2 and A3 refers to residual quantities remaining after refrigerant recovery has been carried out.
