Screw compressors are one of the most popular types of compressors and are used in refrigeration to improve energy efficiency. They can be operated with fluorocarbon (CFC) as well as with natural refrigerants, such as isobutane (R600a). Screw compressors are characterised by their high performance and low energy consumption. In addition, they allow precise temperature control and quiet operation.
Semi-hermetic screw compressors are a new generation of compressors that avoid the use of CFCs. They support energy-efficient refrigeration systems as they have lower energy consumption than conventional compressors. The efficiency of these compressors is achieved through the use of high quality materials and precision manufacturing.
There are many leading brands that offer a wide range of screw compressors. These include Bitzer, Copeland, Carrier, Daikin, Danfoss and Trane. Each brand manufactures compressors with different capacity levels, refrigerant fluids and control options. To find the best fit, it's a good idea to read up on the technical specifications of the different models before you buy.
The screw compressor or supercharger is a part of the cooling system that heats the coolant by compressing it under pressure and then cools it down again. It consists of two shafts running against each other, each with a screw. The movement of the two rotors causes gas to flow in and become trapped between the two rotors. The rotary movement reduces the free space and thus provides the necessary gas pressure. Once the refrigerant has passed through the screws, it flows out of the compressor at the other end with the desired conditions.
The special feature of the screw compressors is the uniformly high pressure. In addition, the compressors work very reliably. They are considered low-maintenance and usually achieve a long service life.
It is used in air conditioners, freezers, refrigeration racks, heat pumps and other refrigeration equipment. It is a cost-effective and energy-saving alternative to conventional compressors.
Due to the cost savings, energy efficiency and low maintenance costs, screw compressors have gained popularity in recent years. There is a clear trend towards using natural refrigerants such as R600a or R290 instead of CFCs. This further reduces costs and reduces the risk of compressor failure.
