Description

CPS BLACKMAX VPBM8V Vacuum Pump – 227 l/min for A1, A2L, A2 & A3

The CPS BLACKMAX VPBM8V is a high-performance, two-stage vacuum pump designed for professional use in refrigeration, air-conditioning and heat pump technology. With a flow rate of 8 CFM (approx. 227 l/min) and a final vacuum of up to 15 microns, it enables rapid and thorough evacuation of refrigeration circuits.

Thanks to its brushless, variable-speed DC motor and flame-proof design, the VPBM8V is also suitable for modern systems using refrigerants in safety classes A1, A2L, A2 and A3. This makes it particularly suitable for specialist contractors who, in addition to traditional refrigeration and air-conditioning systems, also service modern heat pumps and systems using flammable refrigerants.

The benefits of the CPS VPBM8V

  • High flow rate: 8 CFM / approx. 227 l/min
  • 2-stage design for a deep ultimate vacuum of up to 15 microns
  • Suitable for systems containing residual quantities of A1, A2L, A2 and A3 refrigerants
  • Brushless BLDC motor with variable speed
  • Intrinsically safe design for modern refrigerant applications
  • Universal voltage 100–240 V at 50/60 Hz
  • Three connections directly on the pump: 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2" SAE
  • Automatically closing solenoid valve to prevent oil backflow and vacuum loss
  • Integrated analogue vacuum gauge
  • Gas ballast valve to assist with moisture removal
  • Large vertical oil sight glass for easy monitoring
  • Thermal overload protection
  • Capable of starting at temperatures as low as -15 °C

Designed for A2L and A3 applications

The increasing use of A2L and A3 refrigerants places new demands on the tools used by specialist refrigeration, air-conditioning and heat pump contractors. The BLACKMAX VPBM series has been developed by CPS specifically for these applications.

The VPBM8V can be used to evacuate systems in which Class A1, A2L, A2 or A3 refrigerants were previously used. It thus offers a versatile solution for both traditional and modern refrigerant systems.

227 l/min for efficient evacuation

With a free flow rate of 8 CFM or approximately 227 l/min, the VPBM8V offers sufficient power reserve for demanding service and installation work. The two-stage pump design enables a final vacuum of up to 15 microns.

Particularly with larger systems or frequent servicing, the high flow rate can help to reduce evacuation times. For the fastest possible evacuation, it is recommended to use short vacuum hoses with the largest possible internal diameter.

Three connection sizes for flexible operation

Connections in 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2" SAE are available directly on the vacuum pump. This allows the VPBM8V to be adapted to different hose sizes and service configurations without the need for complex adaptors.

The larger connections, in particular, allow the use of large-diameter vacuum hoses, thereby reducing unnecessary flow resistance during evacuation.

Automatic solenoid valve protects the vacuum

The integrated solenoid valve is closed when de-energised. If the pump is switched off or the power supply is interrupted, the valve closes automatically. This prevents backflow of vacuum pump oil and helps to maintain the vacuum generated in the connected system more effectively.

Gas ballast valve for moisture in the system

The integrated gas ballast valve helps to remove moisture and condensable vapours from the pump oil. This reduces the moisture load on the oil, particularly during the initial phase of evacuation.

Typical applications

  • Split and multi-split air-conditioning systems
  • Heat pumps
  • Commercial refrigeration systems
  • Refrigeration and deep-freeze systems
  • Installation of new refrigeration circuits
  • Servicing and repair work
  • Systems using A1, A2L, A2 and A3 refrigerants

Important application note

The CPS VPBM8V is not a refrigerant extraction unit. Before evacuation, any refrigerant present must be properly removed from the system using a suitable extraction or recovery unit. The approval for A1, A2L, A2 and A3 applies to systems with residual quantities remaining after refrigerant recovery has been carried out.

Ideal for modern refrigerants

The VPBM8V is designed for the evacuation of systems containing residual quantities of refrigerants in classes A1, A2L, A2 and A3, and is therefore also suitable for many current heat pump and refrigeration applications.

Rapid evacuation

A flow rate of 8 CFM / approx. 227 l/min, combined with 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2" SAE connections, enables an efficient evacuation setup – particularly when used with short hoses with a large internal diameter.

Note

*Not a recovery unit: The refrigerant must be recovered correctly before evacuation. The A1 / A2L / A2 / A3 classification refers to residual quantities remaining in the system.
